About the filmmaker
Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Alejandro Yoshizawa is a graduate student at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. After completing his undergraduate education in Physics at the University of British Columbia and teaching English for a year with the JET Programme while living in Japan, Alejandro decided to “follow his heart” and study what really moved him: history, specifically Asian and Japanese-Canadian history.
Alejandro currently works as a Research Assistant for Steven High, as a Researcher for the Chinese Canadian Stories project, and as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of History at Concordia University.
Alejandro is half Japanese and half Chilean (grandson of the late Carmen Lazo). In addition to history, he enjoys sports, writing music, gardening, and sleeping in.
